A glimpse at lunch

What began as a pot of soup and a line of strangers became something else entirely.
This short video tells the story of how a meal became a community.

What We Do

Eastside Community Lunch is an all-volunteer group offering sit-down lunches for guests experiencing hunger in Southeast Portland. Every Tuesday and Friday, guests are welcomed with a warm meal, sack lunches to go, and a place to sit, rest, and be treated with care.

Serving food is just the beginning. Rooted in hospitality, attention, and community, Eastside Community Lunch is guided by a belief in Love in Action: a love that moves beyond “us and them” and recognizes the humanity and worth in every person.

Ways to Get Involved

With many ways to support, some people prepare food, make sack lunches, or volunteer during lunch. Others donate supplies, share skills, join a committee, or give financially.

However you show up, your care helps keep this community going, and offers a rewarding, tangible way to do good alongside others.

How you can change lives

More than a meal

Your donation and time helps make each lunch possible. Your gift helps create a place where guests are welcomed, seen, and reminded of their worth. Recurring monthly gifts are especially helpful, giving Eastside Community Lunch a steadier foundation for planning ahead and welcoming guests with consistency and care.
